After the end of the campaign, Jordan Staal claimed that he hopes to be a Carolina Hurricanes player in the upcoming season. However, there is trouble in paradise at the moment as the two parties can’t reach an agreement about his new deal.

Jordan, Carolina’s captain since 2019, will become an unrestricted free agent in the beginning of next month.
“Simply put, everything can change after 5 minutes of talking on the phone, especially at this time of the season. As far as Jordan is concerned with the Carolina, they’re at an impasse,” a source close to the franchise shared.
“Things can change in a matter of hours, but this deal was supposed to be signed almost 1 year ago.”
Staal’s agents have provided concrete options to the franchise. Still, Carolina’s owner will have the final say, and the scenario of Jordan being a free agent on July 1st is very realistic at the moment.
