Jacobs would have received $10.1 million this season if he had signed the franchise tag tender.
Jacob’s deal with the Raiders is no surprise, but the prolonged date, in which was announced started to raise questions, whether the running back is truly committed to the Las Vegas team.
Las Vegas coach Josh McDaniels stated during training camp that Jacobs likely would receive a similar workload as last season, when the 25-year-odl had nearly 400 touches between rushing and receiving.
Jacobs initially wanted a multiyear contract, but he failed to reach an agreement with the Raiders before the July 17 deadline. That meant his options were either to sign the franchise tag tender or sit out the season.
