Joshua Palmer is set to take the place of Mike Williams in the Los Angeles Chargers’ team after the 28-year-old suffered a horror injury, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
Palmer is no stranger to that role as he already filled the Williams’ void last year when he played 4 games in his place. And he will be counted upon again this year.
“It’s another chance to go out and show them again that they can trust and believe in me,” Palmer said Wednesday as the Chargers prepared for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Palmer will have some competition in the face of Quentin Johnston and rookie Darius Davis, so not all the weight will be upon him.
Palmer was second on the Chargers in receptions last season with 72. In the four games last year that Williams missed with an ankle injury, Palmer averaged nine targets and 5.8 catches.
He shone for the Los Angeles team in their 28-24 victory over Minnesota as he had a 29-yard catchup the left sideline during the second quarter, toppled with 30-yard touchdown in the 4th quarter.
