The judges gave 114-114, 117-111, and 115-113 in favor of George. When the result was announced, the fans booed as a disappointed Maxi shook his head.
Hughes started the bout as an underdog but had the best fight in his career. He punched Kambosos with a left hand to the body in the 3rd Round and then sliced up George’s right eye in the 5th Round with a left punch.
“I’m shocked,” shared Maxi, who out-punched George 98-90. “Nobody thought I was as good as my opponent. Tonight, I came and beat him, and I deserved my hand to be lifted in the air. I don’t want to talk about the judges anymore.”
“We triumphed in the bout by many rounds,” claimed Kambosos Jr. after his majority decision victory.
