Captain Harry Kane believes England have a “great opportunity” to win major silverware at Euro 2024.
As England prepare to kick off their European Championship campaign against Serbia on Sunday, Kane expresses confidence that the current squad may have the best chance yet to secure a major trophy.
Reflecting on past disappointments, including the penalty shootout loss to Italy in the final of the last Euros and the quarter-final exit to France in the 2022 World Cup, Kane emphasizes the team’s determination to go all the way this time.
“We all want to be remembered for winning a major tournament with England, not just for having good campaigns,” Kane told BBC Sport. He acknowledges the team’s progress and the significance of the opportunity ahead. “If we don’t win, we’re going to be disappointed. As much as you can be unlucky and go out on penalties, we really want to win and start winning as a national team because we have been taking steps towards this moment. It is going to be tough, we know that, but we’re ready for the challenge.”
