The forward, who has been out since dislocating his shoulder at the end of January, had been relentlessly rehabilitating to try to return to the team in time for the postseason in the East. However, medical staff told him these days that continued instability in the shoulder made it unsafe for him to be on the court this campaign.
Randle tried everything to avoid procedure and return for the most important part of the season. However, now he must undergo surgery after consulting with 2 specialists who warned of further problems and possible permanent damage to the shoulder if he plays competitive basketball before the operation.
Julius’ procedure is expected to allow for a full recovery and return for the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.
New York announced that the forward will be reevaluated in September.
