The point guard may be forced to look for another team as he is set to become free agent
The New York Knick have declined Derrick Rose’s option for contract extension for the 2023-24 season, meaning the point guard is set to become free agent, reports say.
Rose is on the end of two-year deal with the Knicks and had an option for extension for another year, worth $15.6 million.
If the veteran is not acquired, then the Knicks will still be open to bring him back on a lesser salary, according to the Popper’s report.
Rose made just 53 appearances over the past two years. Last campaign he averaged a career-low 5.6 points in just 12.5 minutes per game. While he spent the season on the bench, the 34-year-old former MVP provided a veteran presence for New York that the team appreciated.
