Las Vegas tied the records of Edmonton Oilers of 1985-86 and the Ottawa Senators of 1920-21

Jack Eichel’s power play goal with 4:36 left in the third period broke the tie between Las Vegas and Winnipeg and sealed a 4-3 win for the Stanley Cup champions, their fifth straight since the start of the new season in NHL.

The Knights tied the records of Edmonton Oilers of 1985-86 and the Ottawa Senators of 1920-21 for the longest winning streak to start a season by a defending champion.

Jonathan Marchessault, Brett Howden and Alex Martinez scored the other goals for Vegas, and Logan Thompson saved 36 shots towards him. Shea Theodore had three assists and Mark Stone added another two.

Alex Iafallo scored twice, Cole Perfetti added a goal and Lorak Brossoit made 22 saves in his first game of the season for Winnipeg.
