A bad-angle goal by Jesperi led Carolina to the victory.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi broke a tie with a bad-angle shot at the beginning of the 3rd period, and Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 24 shots to lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-2 victory against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

Martin Necas also notched, and Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen scored empty-net goals as Carolina swept the 3-match campaign series with the Devils and improved to 8-2-1 in their last 11 matches.

Nico Hischier and Timo Meier notched for New Jersey, who are 1-2 under interim manager Travis Green. Nico Daws stopped 23 shots.

Goaltending has been a problem this campaign for New Jersey, and the go-ahead score was 1 Daws probably would like back. Kotkaniemi secured a loose puck in the left corner and shot it at the net right away. Daws had his body vs. the goalpost but left an inch over his shoulder, and the goal went into the net.

Svechnikov scored for 3-1 after that, and after Meier got Devils within a goal with seconds until the end of the match, Teravainen secured the victory.

Carolina returns home to host the Flames tomorrow, while New Jersey will face the Rangers in the Big Apple on Monday.
