Charles Leclerc expressed his delight with the podium finish and labeled an overall ‘positive weekend’.
However, the Monegasque pointed out that there are still a lot of areas where the team can improve and their ultimate goal should be catching up to Red Bull.
Leclerc started on pole after Max Verstappen was demoted to P6 after a gearbox change and lost the lead in the first lap on the run to the Kemmel straight, where the Red Bull with a superior top speed muscled past the Ferrari.
Couple of laps later Leclerc fell victim to resurgent Verstappen, who breeze past him on the same spot with a help of DRS.
“It feels good to be back on the podium, especially for the last race for the first part before the summer break. It’s been a positive weekend overall in terms of pace, from FP1 to the race.” Leclerc said reflecting on the race.
“And it was really important for me to finish on a high note, and we did. It’s good. It wasn’t an easy race. The rain was there in the second stint, which didn’t make things easy. But all in all, we had the perfect management of the race.”
