Bayer campaign-long undefeated run is now at 51 matches in all tournaments – already breaking a 59-year-old UEFA record – and 2 more victories will secure a historical treble.
The German club will play against Atalanta in the UEL final in Dublin in the upcoming week, as after that, they will play at the German Cup final vs. 2nd-tier Kaiserslautern at the weekend.
Victor Boniface netted in the 12th minute to give Leverkusen the lead in the match as not long after that, Robert Andrich scored to double Bayer’s lead. Mert Komur scored in the 2nd half for the visiting side, but Leverkusen finished the season with a triumph.
The Bundesliga team have surpassed the 49-match undefeated run of Benfica between 1963 and 1965.
