Calgary Flames Swedish forward Elias Lindholm said he hopes to renew his contract with the team soon.
Lindholm, 28, is going into the final season of his six-year deal, worth $29.1 million signed on July 16, 2018. If the player does not agree to a new deal, he will become a free agent next summer.
“I think it’s abundantly clear that I want to stay in Calgary. We have work to do. Right now I’m focused on the upcoming season and the rest will take care of itself,” Lindholm said.
“We’re just focusing on the season, that’s all we can do – try to be competitive out there and have a good season.”
