The forward enters his final year of his 6-year deal with the Flames

Calgary Flames Swedish forward Elias Lindholm said he hopes to renew his contract with the team soon.

Lindholm, 28, is going into the final season of his six-year deal, worth $29.1 million signed on July 16, 2018. If the player does not agree to a new deal, he will become a free agent next summer.

“I think it’s abundantly clear that I want to stay in Calgary. We have work to do. Right now I’m focused on the upcoming season and the rest will take care of itself,” Lindholm said.

In five seasons with the Calgary team, the Swede has 139 goals and 186 assists in a total of 369 games. “I love it here in Calgary. I love Canada as a country and Calgary as a city. Since I arrived here, the fans have been great to me, everyone respects me and I have great teammates,” explained Lindholm.
