The Reds are keen on signing a new midfielder after their £111m bid for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo was infamously pipped by Chelsea.
Ironically the London team is also in the hunt for Lavia’s signature and with the deal still not done it is unclear what the future holds for the young Belgian.
Jurgen Klopp lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer and despite signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szobozlai, the German is fully determined on landing another midfielder.
Lavia was left out of the Saints opening game of the season amidst rumors of his imminent departure.
