A 102 million dollar deal had been agreed between the 2 Premier League teams last week before the Hammers were informed on Wednesday that Lucas was the subject of the league’s probe into alleged betting breaches.
There were very small chances of the transfer going ahead even after the betting investigation became public, but now the Sky Blues no longer want to go ahead with the bid for the Brazil international midfielder.
Paqueta shares that he is innocent, and soon FA will have an interview with him.
The probe began when a larger than usual number of wagers were placed in Paqueta’s native country that he would receive a yellow card in the Hammers home match vs. Aston Villa on March 12th, 2023.
Lucas received a yellow card in the 70th minute – a few minutes before being substituted from the game.
