Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a two-time league MVP, stands out among the 32 finalists for the prestigious Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award.
Representing each NFL team, the nominees for this esteemed honor are chosen based on their outstanding contributions both on the field and in community service. Named in honor of the late Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton, the award has been a tradition since 1970 and will be presented during the “NFL Honors” TV show on Feb. 8. This event, hosted by The Associated Press, unveils various individual seasonal award winners.
Patrick Mahomes aims to join an elite group of players who have clinched both the NFL MVP and the NFL Man of the Year Award. Notable names in this exclusive club include Kurt Warner, LaDainian Tomlinson, Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason, John Elway, Joe Theismann, Ken Anderson, and Johnny Unitas.
In recognition of their impactful off-field efforts, all 32 nominees will receive a donation of up to $55,000 in their name towards their chosen charity. The ultimate recipient of the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award will be granted a substantial $250,000 donation to the charity of their choice. Generously provided by the NFL Foundation and Nationwide, these donations signify the league’s commitment to making a positive impact beyond the game.
