Mainz stun Bayern Munich 3-1 to give Dortmund chance to go top

Bayern Munich succumbed to a shocking 3-1 defeat against Mainz at Mewa Arena on Saturday.

Sadio Mane gave Bayern an early lead as the Bavarians looked in full control in the first half.

However, everything was about to get turned on his head when Ludovic Ajorque leveled the scoring in the 65th minute.

It went from bad to worse for the visiting team as eight minutes later Mainz found themselves in front through Leandro Barreiro.

Aaron Martin’s spectacular strike in the 79th minute wrapped it up for Mainz and compounded yet another miserable weekend for Bayern Munich, who have now failed to win their last four games.

Borussia Dortmund now have a golden opportunity to go top of the Bundesliga if they are successful in their game against Frankfurt later this evening.
