Each of them scored twice for Pittsburgh to defeat New Jersey.

Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby each notched 5 times in Penguins’ 5-goal 3rd period and Pittsburgh kept their postseason hopes alive, rallying for a 6-3 victory against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

New Jersey led 3-1 after 2 periods on goals by Timo Meier, Curtis Lazar and Jesper Bratt. However, Evgeni and Sidney notched 67 seconds apart at the beginning of the 3rd period to even the game.

Rickard Rakell scored to put Pens ahead with almost 4 minutes until the end of the match, with his 13th goal before Malkin notched again seconds later. Crosby scored the final goal in the match, as that was his 39th goal this campaign.

Penguins are trying to avoid a 2nd consecutive campaign without making the postseason for the 1st time in Crosby’s career, which started almost 20 years ago.

New Jersey defeated Pittsburgh in their previous match 5-2 last month and also defeated them 5-2 last November.
