Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone shared what Serbian Nikola Jokic makes him most proud of. The 51-year-old has worked with Jokic since 2015, when both joined the team.
“He never changed,” Malone said. “I think we’ve all witnessed how fame and fortune takes its toll on a person. Most people become different. Sometimes they forget where they came from and who helped them get to where they are. That’s what I really love about Nikola – forget about basketball, just as a young man who is a proud father and husband. Throughout his career and success in the NBA, he is still the same person. He is great in that regard,” the Denver coach also said.
“I’ve been in the league for a long time, and that’s rare in our business for a superstar or a celebrity in general. The fact that Nikola remained a humble person, without ego. That’s just who he is. I can’t respect him as a person more than that , which I feel for him. He never looks back, but challenges himself to what’s ahead. He wasn’t the one with the most skills in the beginning, but he’s developed and gotten into the best shape of his life,” added Michael Malone.
“What motivates him is not individual honors, but his desire to be a champion,”.
