Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has warned his players not to give in to revenge ambitions when they face Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
The Spanish team defeated the Citizens in the same phase last year, when they won the trophy in the most prestigious European club tournament.
“The way we are playing is really good. We are not here for revenge, just another opportunity for us. One day we will win the title. We are coming here this season to do it. It didn’t happen last year year because we played against Real,” Guardiola said before the first leg on Tuesday.
“Seven years ago we wanted to win the Champions League. Last season, losing was like ‘the end of the world’, but here we are again. Being stable is the most important thing. The important thing is that every year we try to get better. And last year we were prepared”.
