Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola claims he “doesn’t fear” 14-time Champions League champs Real Madrid ahead of their ¼ final 2nd leg.
The Sky Blues faced Los Blancos in each of the past 3 campaigns, eliminating them in the ½ finals in the past season, but losing at the same stage the previous year.
The Madrid giants have reached at least the ½ finals in 11 of the last 13 campaigns, but Pep says he’s not concerned about their phenomenal record in the tournament ahead of the clash tomorrow at Etihad.
“I don’t fear Real,” the Spaniard head coach shared with the media today. “I respect them a lot. I have faced a lot. I respect Los Blancos, and if I share, I’m scared of them; It would not be true.
“There’s the rivalry; you want to defeat them and perform great. But you can’t always win against the best teams in the world. But I’m not scared of them, and if they eliminate me — as has happened in the past — we will wish them the best and continue to work to improve ourselfs.”
🗣️ Pep Guardiola: “I think they are an exceptional team. This year, last year, the year before…Real Madrid always has a good team. That's my opinion, I already know when I say good things about Madrid, people don't believe me. In Madrid they will make jokes and think that I am… pic.twitter.com/OmWr9dHs7z
