O’Neil, who was hired by Wolverhampton before the beginning of the campaign after Julen Lopetegui left, has guided the club from Molineux to the top 10 in the Premier League, and Gary kept Bournemouth in the league during his 1st top-flight managerial position.
The Wolves head coach already knows about the interest from the giant from Old Trafford as they want to start communication with him about the possibility of leading Manchester United in a few months.
Gary inked a 3-year deal when he became Wolverhampton Wanderers boss in the past summer, leaving the Red Devils with the prospect of having to pay compensation if they decided to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer.
The ex-Middlesbrough, Portsmouth and West Ham United player began his managerial career with Liverpool U-18s having been appointed by Michael Edwards during his time as the Reds’ sporting director.
