The Croatian will finally join the Treble winners after weeks-long negotiations

Manchester City have agreed terms with RB Leipzig to sign Josko Gvardiol for £78m.

Gvardiol has been a top priority for head coach Pep Guardiola and is seen as a long-term prospect at the Citizens.

His price tag is the second highest for a defender, falling just short of the £80m Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire back in 2019.

City are keen on finishing the deal before their Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Arsenal.

Gvardiol is still not part of the Citizens’ squad for their pre-season double-header fixtures, but he is in the stands as a spectator.

The 21-year-old was an integral part of the Croatia squad that reached the 2022 World Cup semi-final and also played a key role in Leipzig’s strong season with the Germans reaching the last 16 of the Champions League, crashing out to Manchester City.
