Glum-faced Manchester United players were seen arriving at Carrington at 9 am to face the wrath of furious manager Erik Ten Hag after their unprecedented 7-0 defeat to bitter-rivals Liverpool.
It is well-known tradition at United for the players to have a day off after a match. No such luxuries were in store for them this time as the Dutch coach, who reportedly arrived at the training ground as early as 7 am, cancelled their day-off as a disciplinary measure in the aftermath of the dismal 7-0 loss at Anfield.
Casemiro, Alejandro Garnacho and David de Gea led the walk of shame as they were the first to arrive. None of them were in the mood to talk and were visibly dejected, with Luke Shaw, following de Gea example and bowed down his mirror in order not to be photographed.
Ten Hag was more than clear about his emotions in yesterday hammering, labelling the team’s performance as “unprofessional”.
