Martin Jones posts 2nd shutout of season

Martin Jones recorded his 30th career shutout by making 31 saves, leading the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night and breaking their three-game losing streak.

William Nylander was a standout with two goals, while Calle Järnkrok also found the back of the net. Tyler Bertuzzi contributed with two assists for the Maple Leafs, who started their three-game California road trip on a positive note with a solid defensive performance in front of Jones, their unexpected first-choice goalie. Nylander opened the scoring in the second period and sealed the win with an empty-net goal, marking his 19th of the season.

In net for the Kings, Cam Talbot made 26 saves, but Los Angeles suffered its first three-game losing streak of the season. The Kings have also struggled at home, losing four of their last five games and experiencing their first shutout of the season.

Jones, beginning his NHL career with the Kings, secured his second shutout since returning to the NHL last month. His 30 career shutouts place him in a tie for 71st in league history with three other goalies, including Talbot.
