Enzo Maresca has shared why the Blues star Cole Palmer missed the latest training session and why he won’t be on the pitch today vs. Atalanta in the UCL. Palmer has been struggling with different injuries since the beginning of the campaign, but made his 1st start since September in Chelsea’s goalless draw vs. Bournemouth over the past weekend.
However, the head coach will not take any risks with his star to avoid potential injuries.
As the EPL campaign enters its 5th month, Cole has played just 6 matches in all tournaments.
Maresca revealed that Liam Delap is out with an injury and that they will not take any risks with Palmer.
“The good news is that Delap’s injury is not serious. And Palmer is still returning to his form, so he can’t be on the pitch for 2 straight matches in 3 days. So we decided that he will miss the Champions League clash and that’s for his good.”
The Blues manager revealed that Wesley Fofana and captain Reece James are healthy and could play against Atalanta tonight.
