Eugenio Suarez was once again a key component of Mariners’ success as he bagged three hits, three RBIs that included go-ahead, two-run single in the 4th inning.
Initially it was Kansas City leading the way(3-2) before Suarez’ heroics in the 4th inning, which helped Seattle built a healthy 6-3 lead by the 5th, when Teoscar Hernández scored on Austin Cox’s wild pitch, and Josh Rojas had an RBI single.
The Royals cut the deficit back to 6-5 through Kyle Isbel’s two-run homer in the 7th, but Suarez was at it again as he hit a run-scoring double in the eight.
Andrés Muñoz allowed a single and walk in the ninth, then retired Maikel Garcia on a groundout. Bobby Witt Jr. was intentionally walked with two outs, loading the bases, and Muñoz struck out pinch-hitter Freddy Fermin for his ninth save in 13 chances.
