The Austrian, an ex-racer who was a close friend of the team’s late owner Dietrich Mateschitz, published an apologetic statement.
“I would like to apologise for my offensive language and clarify that it has nothing to do with which country, race, or ethnicity the people are, and that has nothing to do with their performances.
“I was trying to make a point that Sergio Perez has fluctuated in his performance this campaign, but it was wrong to talk about that this has anything do to with his ethnicity.”
Helmut shared that after the end of last week’s Italian GP at Monza. Marko has also referred to Checo as a South American on previous occasions, despite Perez being Mexican and part of North America.
