Six suspects are under custody for Madrid burglaries

Spanish police have apprehended six suspects in connection with a string of robberies targeting the homes of eight affluent individuals in Madrid, including prominent football players Radamel Falcao and Rodrygo Goes. The arrests, carried out on February 13 but disclosed only recently, resulted in the confiscation of stolen items such as 10 watches, jewelry, 3,300 euros in cash, and two air pistols, according to a police statement.

The series of burglaries, spanning from July 2022, primarily targeted wealthy neighborhoods in and around Madrid. Among the victims were Radamel Falcao, a player for LaLiga club Rayo Vallecano, and Rodrygo Silva de Goes, who plays for Real Madrid, as confirmed by a police source to Reuters.

The suspects demonstrated a “high degree of professionalism” by meticulously studying videos and photographs shared on social media by the players and their entourages. This allowed them to gather information about the layout of the homes and identify times when the occupants were away. The criminals also conducted reconnaissance on the security systems to determine the best methods of entry.

As of now, three of the detained individuals are in custody. The ongoing investigation involves charges related to robbery with force, robbery with violence or intimidation, forgery of documents, and money laundering, as stated by the police.
