The Sky Blues made a 60 million dollar offer for the Portuguese midfielder, but Wolves refused as they demanded more money for the player.
Wolverhampton expect a higher bid from Pep Guardiola’s team before the end of the summer transfer window on Friday.
Matheus didn’t train with his current teammates in the past 2 days, including today, and he did it without permission from the Wolves head coach Gary O’Neil.
The club wants at least 75 million dollars for the Portugal international, who has already told everyone at the club that he wants to continue his career at Manchester City.
Wolves inked him on a 5-season deal during the past summer transfer window for a side’s record fee of 48 million dollars from Sporting Lisbon.
He helped the team to avoid relegation in the past season, as he was crucial during the 2nd half of the campaign.
