Mavericks select Cooper Flagg 1st overall at the 2025 NBA draft

As everyone knew before the draft, the Dallas Mavericks used their 1st overall selection on forward Cooper Flagg.

“It is a phenomenal feeling. My dream just became true,” shared Cooper after being picked at the top of the draft. “I love that my whole family is here with me to share this moment.”

Mavs won the lottery despite having less than 2 2% chance to do so, and they used it on Flagg as expected.

“Cooper is a generational talent, and you don’t have a lot of chances like that,” claimed Dallas GM Nico Harrison. “We are so happy that he will play for the Mavericks in the upcoming season.”

Nico added that the most crucial thing about Flagg is 2-way basketballer and that when he is on the court, he plays hard. According to Harrison, when you see a player like Cooper, you have in your team not just a basketballer, but a guy that can change the whole culture.”

Flagg became part of the Dallas team less than 5 months after the franchise traded Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers, and that made all Mavs fans outraged.
