The contract comes several days after rumors that Jason is wanted for the new LA Lakers boss, a position that became available when the organization dismissed Darvin Ham.
Kid (51) is coming off his 3rd campaign as Dallas manager – a campaign in which he led the franchise to the Southwest Division trophy. In 2 years of the 3 years, Jason has coached the organization to 50-plus victories (52 in his 1st year and 50 in the past season) and postseason victories. The manager led the Mavericks to the West finals in 2022.
“Our organization is excited to have Coach Kidd continue to lead Mavericks throughout the coming seasons with this well-earned deal extension,” Dallas governor Patrick Dumont announced on social media.
He added that Jason led Dallas to 2 postseason appearances in 3 campaigns, and that the team expect this leadership to continue in the future and for the team to develop and become better with each season.
