The Russian advanced to the match for the trophy.

Daniil Medvedev, world number 3, who won his 1st game in the Italian Open in this edition, eliminated Stefanos Tsitsipas, world number 5, 2:0 sets (7-5, 7-5) and will play for the trophy in the Rome Masters.

Both sets were identical as Daniil broke his opponent’s serve twice, as the Greek converted only 1 break. Stefanos served in the 1st and 2nd set to make it 6-5 for him, but Medvedev won both times.

The Russian now leads 7-4 in the head-to-head against Tsitsipas as the Greek won the previous clash on clay against Medvedev 3:0 sets in the 2021 French Open.

Daniil will face Rune, who eliminated Djokovic and Ruud from the tournament, for the Masters 1000 trophy tomorrow.
