Alcaraz picking up an injury midway through the match

Novak Djokovic was triumphant in the long-awaited 1/2 final match against Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.

However, the match was marred by an unpleasant injury, which Alcaraz sustained early in the third set, when he was looking at the peak of his powers.

The world No.1 received treatment twice and eventually decided to continue, but he wasn’t the same player.

Djokovic took full advantage and mercilessly swept past the wounded Spaniard in the last two sets to claim a place in the final in search of his record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam title.

“First and foremost I have to say tough luck to Carlos,” Djokovic said after the game.

“At this level the last thing you want is cramps and physical problems. I feel for him, I feel sorry, I hope he can recover and come back pretty soon. ”

“He knows how young he is, he’s got plenty of time ahead of him and he will win this tournament many times.”

The final is on Sunday, June 11, where Djokovic will face either Alexander Zverev or last year’s runner-up Casper Ruud.
