The 2022 world champion Lionel Messi personally announced his departure from Paris Saint-Germain after the end of the season.
“I am happy that I could represent PSG, I really enjoyed playing in this team and such good players. I want to thank the club for the wonderful experience in Paris,” the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote on Twitter.

Messi came to the French club in the summer of 2021 as a free agent. With the team, he played 74 matches in all tournaments, in which he scored 32 goals and made 35 assists. He became French champion twice with PSG and once won the country’s Super Cup. Later today, PSG will play a home match against Clermont in the last round of Ligue 1.
