The New York team ran riot and putt all their trouble behind them

The New York Mets destroyed the Chicago Cubs in a dominant fashion 11-2 to put an end to their 6-game losing streak on Monday night.

Pete Alonso was the man on a mission as he homered in consecutive at-bats and had a career-equaling 6 RBIs.

Kodai Senga allowed two runs and seven hits in six innings for his first victory for over a month and first at home since May 30 against Philadelphia.

For the Cubs Cody Bellinger hit two RBI singles as Chicago lost only for the 5th time in their last 20 games.

Following a rain delay of 2 hours, 9 minutes, Danny Mendick hit a three-run homer in the seventh and Alonso hit an RBI single in the eighth. It was the second time Alonso drove in six.

Before the delay, the Mets scored twice in the sixth on a bases-loaded walk by Jonathan Araúz and a double-play grounder by Brandon Nimmo.
