Warriors' wing should be ready for Golden State's first official games of the season

Moses Moody is a concern for Golden State after being ruled out for the team’s final three preseason games due to a calf injury.

While the issue is not expected to sideline him for the start of the regular season, the setback is an early warning sign for Warriors. The 23-year-old wing has become a vital piece of the Warriors’ rotation, and his absence could show just how fragile the team’s depth could be if injuries strike again this year.

Moody’s growth last season was a major boost for the Warriors. In his fourth year in the league, he was shooting 37.4% from beyond the arc while also playing an important role in the Warriors’ transformation into the NBA’s best defensive team after the All-Star break.

However, his form dipped as he battled a UCL tear in his shooting hand — an injury that required offseason surgery. Now, with this calf issue surfacing before the new campaign, there are fresh worries about his ability to stay healthy throughout the year.

Moody has missed 65 games over his first three seasons due to various injuries, a number that the Warriors can ill afford to see increase. Though the current setback may be minor, it underscores how crucial his fitness will be to Golden State’s hopes of maintaining both depth and shooting reliability as their veteran core continues to age.
