Jose Mourinho has controversially shared that his team’s ‘cannot be a racist club’ after Los Blancos forward Vinicius Junior accused 1 of his footballers of abuse during Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over the Eagles in the UCL knockout play-offs.
Instead, the ex-manager of the Royal club has said that Vini incited today’s chaos in Portugal.
Real Madrid’s 1-0 triumph in Lisbon was halted for 10 minutes in the 2nd half after the Brazilian superstar scored. Vinicius wheeled away to celebrate in front of the home supporters, and that caused, before the match restarted, Benfica midfielder Gianluca Prestianni to approach the forward on the halfway line, before lifting his shirt over his mouth and whispering something, prompting a furious response from both the Brazilian and Mbappe.
After protesting with the official, FIFA’s racism protocol was initiated, and the match was halted. Vini left the pitch, discussing the situation with both managers. Eventually, the game resumed, and Los Blancos kept its 1-goal lead until the end and will have an advantage before the 2nd leg in the Spanish capital.
🚨 José Mourinho on Vinicius Jr: “When it happens in so many stadiums, always with the same, there is something wrong”.
“I told Vini: you scored a wonder goal, why did you celebrate like that? Why can’t you celebrate a goal with just the happiness of being a great player?”. pic.twitter.com/Sv4mXOV8Vm
