There are still details to be figured out in the negotiations between Napoli and Victor Osimhen over the striker’s contract extension, according to Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
The forward’s agent Roberto Calenda held a series of meetings with representatives of Napoli this summer and an agreement was believed to have already been reached.
Napoli are ready to pay the 24-year-old Nigerian international a salary of €15 million per season, which would make him the highest-paid player in Serie A by a mile. Victor Osimhen’s new contract is expected to include a €150 million release clause for teams outside Italy in the summer of 2024, and a year later it will also become valid for Italian clubs.
“The president is the main man. We are still negotiating. We will see what happens until the end of the transfer window. For now I am a Napoli player, which is the most important thing. I give my heart and soul for the team, as I have done before.” Osimhen said after Napoli’s win over Frosinone in the Serie A season opener on Saturday.
