The National Basketball Association has banned Detroit Pistons forward-center Isaiah Stewart for 7 matches for leaving the bench area and participating in a fight 2 days ago vs. the Hornets.
The NBA also banned Charlotte players Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate 4 matches each for fighting and escalating the altercation, which happened midway through the 3rd quarter. Detroit center Jalen Duren was also banned for 2 games for initiating the altercation and fighting.
All 4 basketballers were assessed technical fouls and ejected from the match. Stewart and Duren will start serving their suspensions tomorrow when Detroit faces the Raptors in Canada. Bridges and Diabate will also start their bans on the same day that Charlotte welcomes the Hawks.
The NBA attributed Stewart’s lengthy suspension in part to his repeated history of such behavior.
However, Duren will play in the NBA All-Star Game as the ban will not be valid for this game. Jalen was named a reserve for the East Conference team.
The ban will cost Stewart almost 800,000 dollars, while Bridges will pay almost 700,000 dollars in fines.
