North Carolina WR Tez Walker will be able to play this year after new information became available to the NCAA that claimed school chiefs “failed to provide” in the past.
Just days before his season opener, the NCAA ruled North Carolina WR Tez Walker ineligible as a two-time transfer.
He missed 4 games despite efforts from furious coaches, UNC officials, and even state leaders.
Today, he finally found out he could play.

Tez is a transfer from Kent State, and his initial permission to play in the current campaign was denied because he had transferred 2 times. His situation became a flashpoint for NCAA rules because the wide receiver hadn’t appeared during the COVID-19 campaign of 2020 at North Carolina Central, which did not have a campaign because of the virus.
Today’s announcement did not reveal what new information was provided to the NCAA that made them reverse the decision. The WR missed his school 1st 4 matches, which the NCAA shared could have been dodged if the university directors had “submitted this information months ago.”
