The club shared today that the surgery the day before was planned as the goalkeeper’s treatment.
“Our team captain immediately resumed his rehabilitative training,” the Bundesliga side announced without specifying a timeline for his possible return to the team.
Bayern Munich will begin the new campaign on Saturday vs. Leipzig in the German Super Cup before the Bundesliga 1st match on August 18th against Werder Bremen.
Manuel hasn’t appeared in a match since the World Cup in Qatar after he suffered a broken leg in a ski accident in December. He hasn’t traveled with the squad for their preseason tour in Asia, as Yann Sommer and Sven Ulreich will be the choices for the beginning of the new football season for head coach Thomas Tuchel.
