Newcastle eliminate Man. City from EFL Cup with 1-0 win

Newcastle won against Manchester City 1-0 in front of more than 51,000 happy fans at St. James’ Park and the team advanced to the 1/8 finals of the EFL Cup as the Magpies played in the final of that tournament in the past season but lost in the match for the trophy from Manchester United.

Julian Alvarez had a fantastic chance to score for the Sky Blues in the 18^th minute but Nick Pope made a great save.

Jacob Murphy had an opportunity to net in the 41^st minute for the Magpies but the keeper took the ball out of his legs and into the corner.

The most important moment in the match was in the 53^rd minute when Alexander Isak scored to make it 1-0 for Newcastle after Joelinton found him with a perfect pass that left Isak against an empty net, and he netted one of the easiest goals in his career.

The referee gave 6 minutes additional time but Manchester City failed to score.
