Jacob Murphy had an opportunity to net in the 41st minute for the Magpies but the keeper took the ball out of his legs and into the corner.
The most important moment in the match was in the 53rd minute when Alexander Isak scored to make it 1-0 for Newcastle after Joelinton found him with a perfect pass that left Isak against an empty net, and he netted one of the easiest goals in his career.
The referee gave 6 minutes additional time but Manchester City failed to score.
