The Norwegian shrugged off claims that the two bare resemblance to the Ronaldo-Messi battle

Erling Haaland dismissed claims that there is an ongoing rivalry between him Kylian Mbappe similar to that of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The the later two being at the twilight of their career and playing outside of Europe the spotlight has turned to the next generation with Haaland and Mbappe certainly the two that stand out.

The Norwegian certainly made a strong statement last year with a breathtaking campaign, which saw him bag an incredible 52 goals to help his team secure a historic Treble.

Meanwhile, Mbappe has struggled with PSG, falling out with the team, which has deepened the speculations the Frenchman is on his way out of the club.

Both have been selected in the Ballon d’Or shortlist, but many believe Messi will be the one to collect the price after leading Argentina to World Cup glory.

“That’s what everyone thinks, but you have to emphasise just how crazy the things Messi and Cristiano have done,” Haaland said.

“You also have to remember that they’re still doing it, even if they’re getting older. They’re still fantastic players.”
