Exactly 5 days after winning his 1st world title in the 100-meter, the American dominated and finished the race in 19.52 seconds, just milliseconds of his world-leading time of 19.47.
His compatriot Erriyon Knighton, who took home the bronze medal in 2022, this time won the silver medal, while Letsile Tebogo of Botswana finished 3rd and secured the bronze medal.
Lyles showed the world yesterday that something very big can happen after he led the ½ finals field by 2-tenths of a second despite a shocking golf cart accident when he was traveling to the stadium. As a result, his ½ final heat was delayed by half an hour.
