Max Verstappen described McLaren resurgence in form midway through the season as “quite incredible”, but Lando Norris impressive results are no surprise to him.
The Woking team endured a dreadful start of the 2023 campaign with the team virtually running at the back of the grid. However, upgrades from the Austria Grand Prix onwards has seen them return at the top and compete with Mercedes, Ferrari and Aston Martin.
Norris secured back-to-back podium at Silverstone and Hungary, while Oscar Piastri impressed at Spa, where he finished second in the Sprint.
“First of all, I think it’s quite incredible to see where they were in Bahrain and where they are now, McLaren. But I think Lando has done extremely well.” Verstappen said.
“But this is also not a surprise to me. It’s just good to see finally that when you have a competent car that you can do a good job and he’s here in P2, twice. It doesn’t need a number even.”
McLaren resurgence may cause trouble for Mercedes, Ferrari and Aston Martin as the orange cars may have a sniff at the top 3 in the Constructors.
