The top-five of the ATP rankings remain unchanged, as Novak Djokovic continues his record-breaking streak as World no.1.
The Serb was hampered last month with a hamstring injury he picked up during his 10th Australian Open title and opted not to play afterwards. He returned for the Dubai Tennis Championship and reached the semi-final, where he was rather demolished by an inspired performance from Danill Medvedev in 2 sets 6-4, 6-4. However, the 22-time Grand Slam winner still managed to add 180 points to his tally to move to 7, 160 points at the top.
This is Djokovic’s 379th week at the top, topping the previous record held by Steffi Graf at 377.
His long-time rival Rafael Nadal, on the other hand, is enduring a difficult time with the Spaniard set to drop out of the top 10 for the first time since 2005. Currently he sits at No.9, but unfortunately for him due to hip injury he will miss the Indian Wells Open, which would lead to him eventually dropping out of the top 10.
Carlos Alcaraz sits second with Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud and Taylor Fritz completing the top 5.
Former Wolrd No.1 Daniil Medvedev, who was victorious in a third consecutive tournament moves up to 6. Holger Rune is up to a career-high No 8 after the Dane reached the semi-final in Acapulco – losing to eventual champion Alex de Minaur in three sets.
