New York Jets decided to release today QB Chris Streveler.
The Jets have waived QB Chris Streveler. The 2022 preseason hero injured his throwing thumb on a helmet last Thursday night and hasn’t been able to practice. It’s a tough business. #Jets

Chris, who triumphed in the Grey Cup with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2019, was a quarterback for New York last preseason, helping the organization go unbeaten and leading them in rushing yards while registering 277 yards, 5 TDs, and 1 interception.
The 28-year-old QB threw for 96 yards and had a pair of TDs in the franchise’s final preseason match vs. the NY Giants.
Streveler appeared in 2 regular-campaign matches for the team in the past season, having 10 successful passes for 90 while finishing with 56 yards on the ground on 9 carries.
Chris suffers from a thumb injury, so he can’t help the teams in the Canadian Football League in the short term this campaign.
The waived quarterback completed 1 pass for 9 yards and 1 interception in New York’s 21-16 defeat to the Cleveland Browns in the Hall of Fame Match.
