The sale of the Canadian NHL organization is finally official.
The league shared that the franchise transfer to a group led by Michael Andlauer has been unanimously approved by the NHL’s board of governors and that everything has been completed.
The Senators announced that Andlauer would take control of the organization immediately.
The Andlauer association reached an agreement to buy the team at the beginning of the summer for around 1 billion dollars.
“The Ottawa Senators Hockey Club is a fantastic franchise, from the players to the staff to the best supporters in the whole league,” Andlauer shared after confirming his purchase. “My team and I are excited to officially be a part of the Senators team and the Ottawa-Gatineau society.
“I want to thank the league and the Melnyk family for the chance to make this possible and for entrusting me to steward this outstanding organization.”
“We are the team that plays between two large hockey markets who both believe they are the centre of the hockey universe. I have been the underdog my whole life, and I know we have the team, staff, fans and community to prove them wrong”.
