Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has officially been included in Cameroon’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
This means that the former Inter goalkeeper, who has not been very convincing since the start of the season, will miss at least one and potentially up to six matches for the Red Devils during this period. Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayındır will take over the goalkeeping duties for Manchester United during Onana’s commitments with the national team. Bayındır has yet to play a single minute in an official match for the 20-time English champions. An alternative option is Tom Heaton, who has also not played for Manchester United since joining the club in 2021.
Cameroon’s first match in the Africa Cup of Nations is on January 16 against Guinea. Four days later, the team will face Senegal, and on January 23, they will conclude the group stage with a match against Gambia.
