The highly anticipated reunion between Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi has become a reality, as the Uruguayan striker officially signed with Inter Miami for the 2024 season on Friday.
Suárez and Messi previously enjoyed six seasons together at Barcelona, achieving remarkable success with four Spanish league titles and nine other trophies, including a Champions League title. Suárez is coming off a standout season where he was recognized as the best player and best striker in the Brazilian league with Gremio.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Suárez stated, “I’m very happy and excited to take on this new challenge with Inter Miami. I can’t wait to get started, and I’m ready to work to make the dream of winning more titles with this great club a reality. I’m optimistic about what we can achieve together with our shared ambition.”

Speculation had been circulating for months about Suárez joining Inter Miami, especially given his close relationship with Messi. Inter Miami secured its first trophy, the Leagues Cup, last season shortly after Messi’s arrival. Messi’s signing was part of a broader transformation that brought elite talent like Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba to the club, along with coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino. Both Busquets and Alba had previously played for Barcelona alongside Messi, and Martino is a former Barcelona coach.
Now, Suárez adds to this talented mix, expressing his commitment to bringing joy to the Inter Miami fans. “I will give my all to bring joy to these great fans I’ve heard so much about while I wear Inter Miami colors, and look forward to reuniting with great friends and players,” Suárez affirmed. “I’m also eager to meet my new teammates and coaches.”
